for Sustainable Impact, Empowering Communities, Transforming Futures
iHSAN International Waqf Labuan Foundation aims to revitalize the Islamic endowment system (Waqf) to address contemporary global challenges such as poverty, healthcare, and education.
Historically, waqf has played a critical role in supporting social infrastructure, and this initiative seeks to modernize and scale its impact at a global level, aligning with the Maqasid al-Shariah (Objectives of Islamic Law) refers to the goals and purposes that Islamic law (Shariah) aims to achieve for the overall well-being of individuals and society.
These objectives focus on preserving essential human interests and ensuring justice, welfare, and balance in all aspects of life.
Surah Al-Ĥadīd (The Iron) 57:18
Indeed, the men who practice charity and the women who practice charity and [they who] have
loaned Allah a goodly loan - it will be multiplied for them, and they will have a noble reward
Ihsan International Waqf Labuan Foundation (IIWF) is a pioneering non-governmental, non-political, and not-for-profit organization dedicated to revitalizing and modernizing the Waqf system to address critical global challenges. The foundation operates with a strategic focus on five core pillars: Shariah-Centric Governance, Asset Optimization and Management, Transparency and Stakeholder Trust, Sustainable Development Commitment, and Innovation and Global Leadership. These principles ensure that IIWF conducts ethical operations, maximizes asset utility, and contributes to global sustainability goals, including poverty alleviation and renewable energy.
IIWF embraces cutting-edge innovations such as blockchain for transparency and artificial intelligence for predictive analytics. This positions IIWF as a leader in Islamic philanthropy and Waqf management, with a focus on optimizing Waqf assets for long-term socio-economic impact. The foundation strives to uplift the Ummah, support underserved communities, and drive sustainable development worldwide.
The significance of Waqf in Islam is highlighted by a Hadith narrated by Ibn Umar and found in Sahih Muslim (Hadith 1632). Umar reported to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) that he had acquired land in Khaibar and sought advice on its management. The Prophet (PBUH) suggested that Umar dedicate the land as Waqf and donate its produce as charity, indicating that the practice of Waqf is highly encouraged in Islam. This Hadith underscores the enduring impact and spiritual rewards of Waqf, reminding us that our efforts today benefit future generations and contribute to our journey towards the Hereafter (Akhirat – Day After). By following these guiding principles and leveraging modern technologies, IIWF is committed to making a lasting positive impact on society and fostering sustainable development.
